ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the effect of phacoemulsification with steep meridian transparent corneal incision on visual function, corneal astigmatism and tear film changes.METHODS: A total of 106 cataract patients(106 eyes)who underwent phacoemulsification in our hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 were selected as research objects, and they were divided into observation group and control group according to the operation mode: with 51 patients in the observation group who were treated with steep meridian transparent corneal incision, and 55 patients in the control group who were treated with transnasal transparent corneal incision. The changes of visual function, corneal astigmatism and tear film between the two groups were compared before operation and at 1wk, 1 and 3mo after operation.RESULTS: There was no statistical difference between the operation of two groups(all P>0.05). The visual acuity was significantly improved at 1wk, 1 and 3mo after operation, and it was better in the observation group than that in the control group. Mean defect(MD)of visual field was significantly lower, and it was significantly lower in the control group(all P<0.05); The corneal astigmatism AKP(+0)of the two groups was significantly lower at 3mo after operation, and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05). There was no statistical difference in corneal astigmatism AKP(+45)(P>0.05); Schirmer Ⅰ test(SⅠt)value increased first and then decreased, and the valley value was at 1wk after operation; Tear film break-up time(BUT)decreased first and then increased, and the valley value was at 1wk after operation. SⅠt in the observation group was lower than that in the control group at each time point(all P<0.05), while BUT in the observation group was higher than that in the control group at each time point(all P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Steep meridian transparent corneal incision phacoemulsification surgery is beneficial to improve the postoperative visual function of patients, reduce postoperative corneal astigmatism, reduce the damage to the patient's tear film function, and promote its recovery.

ABSTRACT

Kyoto global consensus report on Helicobacter pylori gastritis (Gut, July 2015) is another important international consensus since the European Maastricht Ⅳ consensus was published. Kyoto consensus will improve the etiology-based classification, the diagnostic assessment of gastritis, and the treatment of H. pylori-associated dyspepsia and H. pylori gastritis. However, because of high rate of H. pylori infection and antibiotic resistance as well as limited health resources in China, we need to develop our own strategies of H. pylori infection control with the reference of the Kyoto global consensus.

ABSTRACT

Objective To prepare hyaluronic acid-nricase liposomes (UHLP) and to investigate the activity and stability of UHLP and uricase (UC) in vitro. Methods UHLP was prepared using reverse-phase evaporation and observed by transmission electron microscopy. The entrapment efficiency, particle size and zeta potential of UHLP were detected. The physical and chemical properties of UC in free UC and UHLP-including the optimum pi I and temperature-thermal stability-storage stability, pi I stability, stability to trypsinase, and stability to metal ions and organic compounds, were examined. In addition, the mechanism by which UHLP promotes UC activity was also explored. Results The mean entrapment efficiency of UIILP was (57. 2 ± 3. 93)% (n = 3), mean particle size was (322. 6 ± 8. 2) nm (n=3), and mean zeta potential was (–19.4 ± 1.7) mV (n = 3). UHLP was round or oval in shape and was evenly distributed under transmission electron microscopy. The optimum temperature of UC in UHLP and free UC was 40°C -and the optimum pH values of UC in UHLP and free UC was 8. 0 and 8. 5, respectively. Thermal stability, storage stability, pi I stability, stability to trypsin and stability to metal ions and organic compounds of UC in UHLP were better than those in free UC. The envelopment of UC with UHLP increased the activity of UC by reversing conformation and exposing active center of UC. Conclusion UHLP can not only enhance the activity but also improve the stability of UC in vitro.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the pharmacokinetics and bioequivalence of asparaginase (Asp) hyaluronic acid-graft-poly (ethylene glycol)/dimethyl-β-cyclodextrin (DCD) nanocapsules (AHDPs) in male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. Methods AHDPs were observed under the transmission electron microscope. The size, zeta potential and entrapment efficiency of AHDPs were examined. Asp activities were assayed after intravenous injection of AHDPs or free Asp in rats. Pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by software DAS 2.1.1. Then the bioequivalence of AHDPs and free Asp were evaluated. Results The average particle size of AHDPs was (439.63±8.49) nm, zeta potential was (-20.43±2.20) mV, and entrapment efficiency was (55.75±4.11)% (n=3). AUC(0-48 h) of AHDPs and free Asp were (138.93±0.89) U•mL-1•h and (46.38±1.98) U•mL-1•h, the AUC0-∞ were (175.22±13.59) U•mL-1•h and (51.44±3.01) U•mL-1•h, and t1/2 was (4.46±1.04) h and (1.86±0.38) h, respectively. Compared with free Asp, the AUC0-48 h, AUC0-∞ and t1/2 of AHDPs were increased by 3.00, 3.40 and 2.40 times, respectively. The 90% confidential intervals of AUC0-48 h, AUC0-∞ and Cmax were 76.9%-78.3%, 76.9%-78.3% and 92.8%-94.4%, respectively. Conclusion AHDPs can prolong the biological half-life and improve the bioavailability of Asp in rats. AHDPs and free Asp are not bioequivalent.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the histogenesis, clinicopathologic characteristics, pathologic diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of basal cell carcinoma of the Prostate (BCCP).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>We conducted clinicopathologic analysis on the manifestations of 5 cases of BCCP by HE staining and immunohistochemistry and reviewed relevant literature.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Microscopically, the tumor cells were small in volume with ovoid karyomegaly and mitosis, some arranged like a solid nest or with a cribriform appearance. The tumors displayed an invasive growth, with positive expressions of 34betaE12, P63 and Cytokeratin 14, and negative expressions of PSA and P504s. No recurrence and metastasis were found in these patients during over 12 months of follow-up after surgery.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>BCCP is a rare neoplasm different from prostate adenocarcinoma. Immunohistochemistry is indispensable in distinguishing this tumor from other types of prostatic carcinoma. Its biological behavior remains to be further studied. The best treatment option may be radical surgery combined with chemo-radiotherapy at the present time.</p>

ABSTRACT

To report an extremely rare case of spontaneous uterine perforation of choriocarcinoma with negative beta-human chorionic gonadotropin [beta-hCG] post-chemotherapy. We present a 35-year-old choriocarcinoma patient whose serial serum beta-hCG levels following a fifth course of chemotherapy had been within the normal range, but who developed spontaneous uterine perforation with intra-abdominal hemorrhage after eight courses of combined chemotherapy. The patient then underwent an emergency hysterectomy and survived. Patients with persistent focus of disease in the uterus might experience uterine perforation even after adequate chemotherapy, and therefore, the follow-up for patients after chemotherapy is very important
